“Everybody Needs (Bit Funk Remix)” - Oh Shit! & Night Drugs

    Everybody needs… this track.

This is one of the numerous remixes for the single that just dropped. The others are all excellent but I can’t post more than one audio track a day, and the Bit Funk version (of party-exploding Hustler’s Anthem 2009 Remix fame) is perfect for this sunday evening.

It is also exactly the sound you yearn for and expect from a collaboration between the French (Night Drugs) and L.A. (Oh Shit!) disco house scenes- happy funky danceable lazy goodness that pleasures your ears.

The Dears have a new album, Missiles, out October 2008 on MapleMusic (Canada) and Dangerbird Records (US and International). With the band going through another lineup change, it’s back to charismatic frontman Murray Lightburn and keyboardist Natalia Yanchak again, the way they started back in 1998 when they released dreamy pop-noir End Of A Bedtime Story. I’ve followed their grueling process of creating this album and the product is another emotional, richly textured, complex milestone in their prolific music career. Murray talks about the album:

We want to bring you this record whole and still warm. It’s beautiful; that is the only way to describe it. A blues album, essentially. It’s also long and kind of paced for love making, because that really makes everything better. 58 minutes, 16 seconds, 10 songs. One song is over 11 minutes, just like the old days. Come October, we encourage you to seek it out; it is worth every penny and all the dough just goes back into making more records, not buying solid gold houses. Thanks, in advance.

Listen to a new track, “Meltdown,” and pre-order the CD at Insound.
