1. Type and image are never quite alone in their communicative or emotional power, and I’ve always been interested in the use of texture in a central visual role. Some recent client projects had me exploring ways to utilize texture as a tool, and to exert intricate control over it, in literally carving out a look & feel. In hopes of pushing this idea further, I challenged myself to apply the method to a universal, highly intuitive theme. The result is The Sensory, a series of prints aiming to capture some basic notion of the experience of our five senses. Each specimen of heavily illustrated custom type is fully vector-based, and built entirely out of a unique & abstracted texture from nature, chosen to evoke some facet of its subject. Whether through human flesh or billows of smoke, this series is an attempt to craft substance out of simple, vague texture — a method I’d like to continue to hone, and one for which I see many creative & commercial possibilities. “Everybody Needs (Bit Funk Remix)” - Oh Shit! & Night Drugs

    Everybody needs… this track.

This is one of the numerous remixes for the single that just dropped. The others are all excellent but I can’t post more than one audio track a day, and the Bit Funk version (of party-exploding Hustler’s Anthem 2009 Remix fame) is perfect for this sunday evening.

It is also exactly the sound you yearn for and expect from a collaboration between the French (Night Drugs) and L.A. (Oh Shit!) disco house scenes- happy funky danceable lazy goodness that pleasures your ears.
